Description: This project builds upon an existing structured pipeline to extract building evidence from historical maps into GIS-ready data. The current workflow requires intermediate steps including tiling, supervised annotation, and comparing YOLOv8 with MapSAM for inference. The main development focuses on enhancing and validating this methodology by benchmarking the pipeline against off-the-shelf QGIS GeoAI tools. Finally, the methodology can be extended and tested on additional feature types (e.g., roads).
