Teacher: Giovanna Venuti

Tutor: Dr. Daniela Stroppiana – CNR- IREA

Project description: The project requires further development of the version 2.0 of the QGIS BAD (Burned Area detector) plugin. The project relies on previous work done in the framework of geoinformatics projects and master thesis and it aims at delivering an advanced version of the plugin with more functionalities and interactive tools for the implementation of the fuzzy burned area mapping algorithm.

The proposed improvements are:
1. More flexible tool for the selection of the OWA
2. Automatic query, selection and download of the input Sentinel-2 images to allow the user to select the ‘best’ images for the pre-fire and post-fire
3. Compositing of input images in case of multiple acquisitions
4. Additional features with post-fire and delta vegetation indices (NDVI, NBR, NBR2, MIRBI)

Technologies: Python, Jupyter Notebook, QGIS, Google Earth Engine
